Interesting!
I know a couple of years back when I was camping on a (very) wooded site I got permission from the site owner to scavenge some branches etc.
Ball of string & an afternoon sitting there with my steaming coffee mug & the radio on low & I'd fashioned a washing up stand & a table type affair, just like we used to make in Guides! (Back in the 19mumbles).
Pals of mine have wooden stools (3 legged type) and a beautifully crafted pair of seats - like 2 ladderbacks that slot together, but lie flat in the car?

I pulled a wooden table very similar to yours out of the bins at Waterside House campsite four years ago. The was nothing wrong with it, and I used it for a couple more years until it collapsed whilst being used as a ladder. I liked it so much, that I stripped it down and reassembled it with screws and glue. Mine was fitted together with small wire pins originally. If I found a directors chair at a car boot, I would go for it.
------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.

I have 4 wooden directors chairs which we use in the awning to sit on when we have our meals. I got them from camping and general in Southend on Sea. Got them in 1994 have rubbed them down and given them a coat of yacht varnish.
------------- I do the towing so it must be my turn to wash the van and clean the inside!!!

My parents had some really old wooden directors chairs. They probably dated from the early thirties, but someone (me...sorry) painted one blue and one red in the nineties and put some stripey canvas on them. Still they were on their way to the skip when I tarted them up.
I'd use them for camping only they take up too much room in the car. I'm a roofboxless and trailerless camper so space is an issue for me, and I've got two teenagers and all associated stuff to take in one little hatchback.
I have a wooden tray on legs, the type you have your breakfast in bed. I take it camping as it makes a great low table, and it's got a big surface area so it's useful for food preparation etc.

Thats reminded me, nothing to do with wooden camping gear but I have a plastic tray table from ikea that we could use. Bought it to put laptop on in the summer as it gets too hot on my lap. We too don't have a roofbox or trailer either so will def take it with us as it is flat. We can use it for drinks or food prep like you said. Thanks Victoria1!
