Need a Utility Tent thats compact when packed away. That I can cook in and store food. We have an awning, but last year it was too cramped with cooking.
Hi, I don't know about the quechua but I do have the XL outhouse and its great. Folds up nice and small and I can cook and store in it.It also goes up quickly. My 14 yr old usually does it so that we can get food cooking whilst I help Oh pitch the tent. I usually have (when away for more than a few days)cooker+ stand another 2 kitchen type unit, fridge, oven and storage boxes
I'm sure I reviewed the utility tent on here, you may find reviews of the other one too
Hope that helps
Ah that sounds good then. I did like the idea of the Quechua as its pop up (anyone got any reviews - Quechua are all the thing in France - nearly every other tent was one - although it was highly amusing watching them all try and put them back in the bag at the end of their holidays - kept us entertained for hours!)
Back to the tent though. Outhouse does seem like a good option. At least I can stand at a table and cook, rather than last year on the floor!
I use the quechua base seconds as a utility and love the ease it goes up and puts away. Angles of wall are fine, and is handy that the windows drop down when its hot
You have to step over the entrance but doesn't bother me
Have just bought an inner for it, so it will double up as overnighter if i need a quick fix tent (I am arriving at Isle of Wight about 5am, so plan to get my head down for a few hours in it before pitching the 'main' tent and using it as a utility)
The royal easy up kitchen stand is pretty good too!
Wow, thanks for the photos, that really does help to get an idea of what I can fit in it! I was a bit worried about the slanted walls!. What a great idea to use it as a quick tent for the first night! Thats ideal! Just need some of those fold up tables you have!
I have the same one as Val although mine is the green one. I'm very pleased with it, the only thing is it's not very wind shedding so it's best to take some really good pegs. I intend to get Delta's for my kitchen tent for this year as I've had to stop it trailing across a campsite twice now, as it lost it's moorings.
It's fantastic as a kitchen tent, roomy for a large slatted vango table across the back and still have two chairs and a heater. There are two doors and two windows, and since the doors zip all the way round you can close the bottom half to make stable doors.
The walls are barely slanted at all, it's got very useable space inside and you can also buy a groundsheet with velcro tabs in the corner, and as Val says, a whole inner tent for sleeping in.
Fantastic, I am sold on the idea of the quechua, perfect, just now need to find the best site to sell me one. Do like the idea of the green one! Thanks for all your advice.
Not sure if you have a Decathlon store near you or one which delivers as they are selling the grey ones at the cheapest price. They're getting hard to get hold of as they are discontinuing them. I bought one a couple of months ago to use as Utility tent as the reviews on here were very good.
The brand Quechua is done by decathlon. You'll find them on eBay but those sellers would have bought them in decathlon too. The green one and the grey one are the same price, and yes they are discontinued so if you get online, check the stock of the store and reserve it pretty quick!
