Hi everyone, I have just bought an optimus 00 camping stove off ebay. I am very happy with it. Well, appart from where you put the paraffin in/screw on the valve, it looks like it has been soldered and smoothed off around the back edge where it joins to the tank. I bought it as I have decided to put down the xbox and go camping like I used to and I know them to be a good stove. I had one about 20 years ago and it had solder in exactly the same place. I was wondering why this is? Is it a repair, factory second or where some of them done like that in the factory as a precaution. Are they prone to go round that area and is it still safe.

Thanks and happy caming.

As far as I remember the tanks of all Primus and Optimus stoves were of soldered construction.
Being brass, soldered joints are necessary to enable the tank to act as a pressure vessel.

Thanks Bernie. Didn't bother me years ago that it was soldered and could be a problem. Looked at other 00 stoves and couldn't see any solder on them so I was a bit concerned. Thanks again.
