Just had my weekly email for Aldi, they have some clamp lights going for £9.99 on Thursday 20th seen here

Since I've just acquired a ehu, I thought this would make a good light for the tent. Any other ideas for lights would be appreciated.

I made my own copy of the Outwell light- I used a plastic screwtop container with a pendant lampholder. Made a little hangy bit out of stainless welding wire, uses a short energy-saving bulb. The lid stays on for transport/storage, then comes off when in use. I did extensive testing before its first proper outing, just to make sure the plastic didnt melt, thats one of the advantages of the low energy bulbs-----

Not sure I'm that confident to make my own, I would worry I hadn't made it safe. Great idea though, have you any pics of your finished light?

Ideally I'd like one of THESE is that the sort of thing you were copying V8?

It is on my wishlist along with THIS ONE
Unfortunately funds as they are, it looks like the practical but not very pretty Aldi one for me.

We bought 2 of those lights a couple of years ago and they've worked really well. We use low energy bulbs and the whole fitting stays very cool.

Ours don't have the clamp though, just the hook, might have to invest in 2 spare ones!

I bought a work lamp similar to the Aldi's one, and it has a handy on-off switch. The Aldi's one does not appear to have a switch, which means it can only be switched off by unplugging it, and may not suit everyone.

Lots to consider there - I'll be going to Aldi anyway, so shall check if there are switches or not, I wouldn't have looked otherwise.

I also shop in Asda, so shall have a look out for those recommended too.

Well I decided to buy the clamp lamp from aldi, and once I got it home checked it worked and so on. It has a switch so pleased about that, when this light bulb goes which is a screw in 60w, there is room to add a long life bulb.

I'll probably use it when not camping too. While I was there I bought an oscillating fan heater for £12 something, so that's heating sorted, although I've got my eye on one of these

an outwell etna patio heater

which I've seen from Norwich Camping

it's 30cm diameter rather than 42cm diameter, so I think will be easier to store away outwell fuji heater, although I prefer the look of the fuji opposed to the etna

fuji

I think I may wait until the end of the camping season until I buy, or look for offers as I still think it's a little pricey for me. Although it's a heater it gives out light too.
