Hi there, we are currently looking at getting a new cooker for camping. The one we have been given is lovely, but quite big and heavy, and with car space an weight to consider we are thinking of getting somthing a bit better suited. This is the one we are looking at http://www.qksrv.net/click-1428744-10297635?URL=http://www.wildday.co.uk/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=540

Does anyone have this, or any experience of it? Or any other reccomendations? I have looked on most camping equipment web sites and this one seems to be quite popular. We have two small chilren so I liked the idea of the child safety knobs.

Don't know that one but I've got one similar to this and it packs up quite neatly:

                                                - Compact Size.
                                                - Flip Down S/Steel Toaster.

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

This is PJ Camping but search and you can get it cheaper. Really handy having its own stand and the wind shields on it, and does scrummy toast with the flip down rack thingy.

Hi

We've got the one that Bozz mentioned - the campingaz chef stove and I find it quite simply brilliant. It folds up quite neatly, heats up quickly and surprisingly, the toaster actually works very well.

We're a family of three and bought it midsummer time this year and have used it probably four times so far. I use mine linked up with a Sibir three way fridge via a 7kg butane bottle. We've found it absolutley ideal and would thoroughly recommend it - that is, unless someone knows of one better!!

We've got the camping gaz lagon, it's just a bog standard double burner.  Previous experience of the ones with a grill underneath is that they're not worth bothering with and not worth paying the extra for, they never work properly.  We also have a small gas bbq.

Oh, my post went very peculiar!!! Sorry, it was alright when I first posted it.

The ones with the grill underneath looked really hard to clean afterwards, a fryig pan is much easier!

We have the Lagon as well (with the lid & side shields). Really good, boils kettle quickly and very easy to clean. Should last for donkeys. An excellent puchase! Had a Tilley Talisman B4 with grill - grill not brilliant & we only used it 4 toast anyway - so now use little toaster over one of the the main burners of the Lagon.

However if you feel you cannot do without the grill, I would say nearly all Camping Gaz products are good quality & well designed (not their latest stove on a stand with the covered pantry bit and fold out side pieces though by all accounts).

I've tried just about every stove combination going in the quest for the perfect cooker for us (me, herself and 3 kids) and can categorically state that you can't beat the Coleman Duel Fuel Stoves - we have the 424 double and a 533 single - absolutely superb.

There's no fannying about with gas bottles, no trailing hoses, they're as cheap as chips to run (if you run them on unleaded) and they produce heat like nothing else.

And at this time of year (in order to get a little fix of camping) if we get half decent weather at the weekends we throw them in the boot of the car and have bacon sandwiches on the beach on a Sunday morning - excellent!!

I know they won't be to everyones taste but there's loads of threads on here on that very subject.  I must admit that my initial reaction to a petrol stove was "Is that really safe?" - and then someone pointed out the safety implications for lugging about a pressurized 5kg gas bottle and I had to agree that it's no safer or more dangerous than any other kind of fuel (all of which is designed to burn) - you just need to be careful.

Each to his own and all that but it's my honest opinion that you will not get a more efficient, higher powered, cheaper to run and resilient bit of kit - they're the business.

You can pick the 424 up on Wildday for around £50 (although I got mine on Ebay for £35).

Good luck whatever you choose.  Why don't you do what I did and buy the 533 single to see if you like it - you can pick them up brand new on Ebay at the moment for around £20 including carry case and windshield and that's a bargain (Millets were doing them without the windshield and case for £35).
