Can anyone recommend any electric heaters for this years camping. Last year was the first time we used electric and it was a bit of a revelation. So no going back this year.

Any suggestions would be appreciated....

I started off with a convector heater which was fine in a small tent or in the bedroom pod but not so good when I bought a larger tent.

A lot depends on the outside temperature. If it is just for chilly summer evenings then a convector or a radiator are fine but in really cold weather I found they struggled a bit, mainly because they are trying to heat a large mass of static cold air.

A fan heater on the other hand seems to work much better because it circulates hot air quicker. As stated though, some can be noisy.

Hi

We have this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/DeLonghi-HVN2532B-Quiet-Heater-Oscillating/dp/B000ARTAYA

Its perfect for us - only a a little noise comes from it but has never bothered us ( 2 adults a 16 year old a 8 year old and a 2 year old )

The fact it oscillates means no " hot spots" and it heats up our Khyam Harewood Deluxe easily.

I am sure it switches itself off if it falls over.

Paul

Thanks for the suggestions.

Will look into the oscillating ones. Now just got to decide where we are going to stop for our first trip this year.

We use a small fan heater that has 2 outputs (1kw and 2kw) variable thermostat, cool blow, frost protection and auto cut out.

Ours is very similar to this one in Argos:
http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-1428744-10294381?url=http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4152174/Trail/searchtext%3EFAN+HEATER.htm

We have only ever needed to use it on 1kw with the heat set at about 1/2 and this is more than enough to heat our Khyam Ontario 8.

I have just bought a 2kw fan heater which looks exactly like the Delonghi for £6.99 at Home and Bargain, it is very quiet, two heater settings, auto cut out.
