If you mean the glass fronted ones, as far as i know its just a small fridge. You might find it very noisy and they arent really made for moving around as the gas inside them is quite dangerous if the elements at the back are punctured - as in the whole campsite would be evacuated. I know this because a daft neighbour of ours along the street decided to cut the pipe at the back of us and the whole 2 blocks were evacuated for hours because of the poisonous gas. Just thought I'd let you know.

Cool campers use Delta Pegs.

With the glass-fronted beer fridges, it depends on what type you have. I didn't realise that some are cooled by compressor like a normal fridge, and some by a fan. I bought one of these fan ones from eBay & discovered that it doesn't actually cool low enough to be safe for food - fine for drinks but not for my dairy etc! So I've now had to buy another proper little fridge & will need to eBay the first one grrrrrrrr!

Lidl and Aldi should be getting their powered cool boxes in soon, for about £30-£35. They'll flatten a battery in a few hours, but work well on EHU.
Yes, we bought the Aldi one. I think it was 35 quid. It is very good as it comes with the 12v -and- mains leads. Works great plugged into the car fag lighter socket travelling down to the campsite. Then plug into the EHU when you get there. Our one is fairly quiet and keeps my beers very cold! BARGAIN.....
think mine is powered by a compressor. it can go really cold to the point of freezing cans of coke i think i will be ok moving it round as long as you keep them upright i was just wondering about the hookup being able to power it.while im on the subject we are new campers and will be just doing weekends this year will cool boxs keep the food cool for a weekend or will we have to buy fresh food daily
We're looking at getting EHU this year and are intending using a mini fridge I've had for years. Knowing its foibles the plan is to cool it down on mains for a day or so before we go, transfer it to 12v for the journey and then back on mains again once we're there - that should ensure it gets and stays at its max coldness. We won't be using it in the height of summer as we'll go electricity-free when its warm enough not to need heat.
I think if you can only afford one of the cheap mini-fridges then its better than nothing - just make sure you try it out at home so you know how it'll perform before you go.
only doing two night camps so will a standard cool box with the ice packs be ok i,ll freeze the second nights stuff before i leave but we allways camp within driving distance of a shop so could allways buy as we go
Normal coolbox, electric cooler or portable fridge/freezer? We get asked this a lot so we put together this handy fridges guide which explains the basic differences. Hope it helps.

i have read lots and to be honest I am none the wisher.i just want something that will not take up a lot of space in the car and will keep milk, food fresh and the beers of course.
We have put together a little guide to answer this question. itt gives the basics of each types of cooler and can be found here. If you want compact and are staying in the UK I would say thermo-electric coolbox is the way to go. If you want to go abroad to somewhere hotter go for absorption fridge but they cost more, are more bulky and have less space inside as a general rule.
