We camp mostly without electric and even with a brand new 110 Amp Battery last year i'm struggling

can anyone help???

Cheers
Phil

It should be OK. Only issue is where you can safely put the second battery and secure it. Remember it needs to be adequately vented.

On ebay there are dual battery charge controllers - when not on hookup I take a second battery in the car that on site is used for all of the "other" stuff - charging mobiles ipods etc leaving the master for the pump lights etc.

From playing with off grid power I have found that even batteries of the same make and model charge at differing rates and therefore require differential charging or charging in sequence. This is one of the problems that has haunted the electric vehicle world for years and in now only slowly being slowly overcome with quite complex computer controlled monitoring and charging systems. To get the best out of both batteries I would suggest charging them separately with a decent charger, or if using two batteries with solar using a reputable regulator that will provide the most suitable charge to each battery. In the ideal world each cell would be monitored but that isn't going to be happening in the leisure industry unless we get a radical shift from the existing technology of using slightly modified car batteries.

A nice bank of Lithium-ion cells with a specialised charging unit could make a massive difference to caravanning and the use of motorhomes in the future.
