Hi, Has anyone bought or fitted one of the magic motor movers. I have seen one priced at £485. Is it a case of you get what you pay for. The price is a lot less the many other movers.

I can't comment on that particualr make as I have no knowledge of it. The motor mover business is quite competitive at the moment and often the only way that new makers can get in on the act is to come in with a lower price. I don't think I would buy an unknown brand without at least having a look at it to check on how its made. Mind you if you get dozens on replies how good they are that might be enough!

I had been considering one of these for our Bailey Ranger 550/6. After alot of deliberating and reading reviews decided to have a heavy duty powrtouch fitted by our local caravan company to benefit from the 5 yr guarantee.

Picked it up yesterday and took the van away for the night (First time this year) on arriving my wife pitch the van on her own and when we left today just walked the van up to the back of the car and hitched up.

In a nutshell its bloody brill! - also had pneumatic jockey wheel and 110ah battery fitted at same time.

Would highly recommend

Roger

Had a look at the Magic Mover on Google and it certainly looks okay. However I am wondering why they do not quote a wieght for it. Strange.

Hi, Thankyou all for your comments. I have seen pictures of the Royal titan and the Magic mover and the look almost the same. I have also found a dealer with a magic mover set up and working on a chassis so hope to go and have a look as soon as possible. Regards Geoff

I bought one of these, fortunately second hand, so I didn't waste a lot of money and I did get all of my money back when I sold it on.

It promised a lot on the box but delivered nothing but hassle.

There is a slight slope up and to a 1" high step and then into my workshop where I store the caravan I had at that time and the Jockey MM could neither push nor pull the van up that slope and even with me helping with a push, it then couldn't negotiate the 1" step.

My last two units, a caravan and now a folding camper, both have normal motor movers and both take the slope and the step as if they are not there.

All the weight in Vans/TT/FC are on the main wheels and that is where you want the power of a MM to be also.

There are other disadvantages to the Jockey type movers in that they need to be specially fitted each time you want to use them and they are heavy for moving around off of the unit.

At the end of the day, if you have a Jockey Wheel Mover, you will always be looking for something better.
If you have a standard Motor Mover, you will never accept anything else on your unit.

THIS is the firm we used and the Mover that I had fitted. You can fit them yourselves but I cannot due to medical problems and preferred to have this company do it for me.
I liked what I read in the reviews about this Mover and this firm is a National Service.

The problem with fitting a caravan mover to a FC or TT is that our chassis are not deep enough to take a motor mover and so a special set of brackets have to be added to our chassis to accomodate the mover.
Not a problem, they are simply bolted on.

One other difference is that whereas most caravans have the motor mover fitted in front of the wheels, on my Pennine Pathfinder, there is a strengthening bar across there and so the Mover has to be fitted behind the wheels. This is not a problem in that motor movers can be fitted in either position and the instructions for fitting it cover both positions.

On a previous caravan, we had a Truma MM and while I am sure these have improved in the last few years, we had endless trouble with ours which fortunately was covered by Warranty, but still it could not be trusted and usually broke down in the middle of trying to hitch up the van in a muddy field in torrential rain.

We have not used our Enduro 2 "in anger" yet but from using it around the storage yard, we are happy with it. Promotional Video here.

Lastly, it is advisable to use a 110Ah battery with a motor mover.
