It's not big enough to do a bbq for 6 but it does do a mean joint of beef
Its more weight to carry in the van but it works really well as a heater after you've used it
Cobblestones are pricey but you can carry it inside if it starts to rain and you don't have to watch it all the time
can't do paella on it but great for sticky chicken
I am really starting to think that i have a defunct piece of kit here but am loath to get rid :(
I could never get rid of my Cobb - love it. OK I don't BBQ with it, but do use it to roast, do jacket spuds, did some lovely steak wrapped in foil in it last year. I even use it for the jacket spuds if we are having a BBQ in the garden.
You can do paella! Get a wok that sits inside the rim of the cobb (or get the special cobb one) and you can cook most things. I've done a BBQ for 8 with it - fair enough you have to be bit more casual and eat food as it becomes ready, rather than having it all served at once but that to me is part of the fun.
You don't have to use cobblestones - 8-10 briquettes works just as well. I only use cobblestones if I'm in a rush to start cooking but even then they're the cheap alternatives they keep doing at B&Ms.
Don't get rid of it until you've experimented a bit as the possibilities are endless. Just watch a few episodes of Hairy Bikers to see - they seem to cook just about anything on it!

tried the cheao alternatives to cobblestones but i dont like them as much and too impatient to wait for the bricks to heat up lolthe kids dont like hanging round for the food if we do a bbq so loads ends up getting wasted .I love doing a bbq that way but the kids dont lol
am sttill in 2 minds
Let me know if you want to sell it bob, I'd like 1 for camping. Think I agree with you, I wouldn't use it in the garden or caravan when you can just bung the oven on for jackets and the like
