What sort of sleeping bag would you recommend for a two year old? My four year old uses a normal mummy sleeping bag with blanket on top of airbed and 2 on top of him, but my 2 year old would wriggle to far down a normal sleeping bag.
My daughter was two last May and spent the end of last year's camping season in a junior mummy style sleeping bag - we didn't have any problems with her wriggle down the sleeping bag (and she does move around quite a bit in her sleep) - can you not try your two year old in your son's sleeping bag at home to see whether it will works for your youngest?
We went camping for the first time at end of the season last year. My youngest was 1 1/2 at the time. We put him in a vest, sleepsuit and then one of the all-in-one thick furry/fleece type sleepsuit. We got it from Mothercare. Then we covered him with a baby quilt and had a thick blanket under him as well. If you decide to go for this idea, be quick, Mothercare stop doing them through the summer. Good luck
Thanks for that, will try the 2 year old in the 4 year olds sleeping bag and if no good take his normal baby sleeping bag (no arms) and put a furry all in one sleepsuit on.
Some of Snugpak Softie chrysalis sleeping bags have clips to securely fold the bottom part of the sleeping bag under . Weve bought four as our girls have out grown there kiddy bags and our 19year old snugpak bags are still usable but weve had our moneys worth !
What about folding an adult bag in half, there's nowhere to wriggle to & it would provide another layer on top or under depending on which way you fold it.
We originally bought a junior sleeping bag for my 4 year old son and a vango sleeping bag designed for babies for my 2 year old. After one trip we realised that the baby sleeping bag was way too small for him and ended up putting my 4 year old in an adult bag and my 2 year old into the junior sleeping bag (which is an outwell cloud if my memory serves me correctly). The junior bag is not deep enough for me to worry about him wriggling too far down. In fact, the issue tends to be more about him wriggling upwards and half out of it, so we put him in thicker tops when it is cold just incase!
Our son used an adult sleeping bag from 2 years old, just folded the bottom over. The one big recommendation I have though is to find one with a water repellent liner or take a spare, as those little accidents can happen (even if the child is otherwise dry) due to the different environment and not being able to get to the loo. My old hiking sleeping bag proved ideal as it had a water repellent liner that we could wipe clean if our son had an accident, rather than having to wash and dry out the whole bag....
