I am looking to purchase some camping chairs. Obviously the cheap supermarket £7 specials wont last especially as i am not the lightest camper!
I looked in Go Outdoors earlier, they had a special on Two chairs and a table for £75. To be honest thats the top end of my budget, so i would need them to last a while!
I was wondering if anyone had used those chairs and had an opinion on the robustness or had recommendations around the £30 mark for a sturdy camp chair.
we bought those chairs last year they are hi gear kentucky . we found them really comfy & appear to be quite strong . they have survived stroppy teenagers throwing themselves into them we paid £27 each for them & then was gutted when they went down to £12
It depends on the pack size, if pack size is not such an issue you would be hard pushed to beat chairs like the Kampa Boss chair. If pack size is more of an issue then something with the same design as the Goya chair or Outwell cross chair, these chairs have more support under the arms which is a major weak point on camping chairs, I should know with my manly 17 stone frame. I forgot to say im only 5ft 10" tall lol.

Hi we have the Royal Commando chairs which are light brown and black. Seen them at allsorts of prices from £25 each to £75 for two . Very comfy and very reliable, well worth it. Got ours from Camperlands in Manchester, but Riversway leisure do a similar one for much the same price.

Hi there,
I am looking to purchase some camping chairs. Obviously the cheap supermarket £7 specials wont last especially as i am not the lightest camper!

Don't buy them. They all come out of the same factory. The so called 'better quality' versions have a bit more padding, but the framework is just as flimsy.
I'm not a fatty, but I am 6'2" and well built and they just don't take the weight, anymore than about 13 stone (I think they're rated at abour 14-15 stone) and the black plastic block connectors just give way.
We bought two new camping chairs from The Range. They're built with larger diameter alloy tubing and are much stonger and a fair bit wider than the old supermarket chairs. They are fully foldable come in their own carry bag and the best bit.....they're 3 position adjustable whereby the recline to 3 levels. So comfy, I could probably sleep in one, especially after a couple of "shandys"!!!
By the way, I'm 16 stones and these chairs feel very sturdy under my weight.
Look at the Oztent chairs too. I have a King Goanna that was about £60 that's very comfortable and sturdy enough for the larger person. (6'3" and just under 20 stone).
They do another design that's a more upright chair - I forget the name - and that's also highly rated by those who choose it.
The King Goanna is rated to 150kg, big enough for big campers!
