I've noticed that a few people on here refill their disposable gas cartridges from a large gas bottle at home using an adaptor and that this practice is commonly widespread in the US.
Does anybody know if adaptors are available for campingaz CV (easyclick) range of cartridges or if it's just Coleman cartridges that are catered for at the moment?
This has been discussed at length before. I have known people re-fill the larger cylinders using adaptors. Some do this regularly. It is not for novice DIY though & the disposable cylinders are just that. The procedure is frought with danger if filling regular Calor cylinders & is potentially deadly for the disposables. There has to be a small ammount of vapour left above the liquid gas. This is to allow the liquid to expand in hot weather. It is not possible to accurately measure this when re-filling yourself. Get it wrong & the cylinder can rupture.
As Steve has pointed out, gas cylinders must be only be filled with liquid gas to 80% of the total volume. The remaining area is known as ullage and is required to allow the conversion of liquid to gas and prevent liquid from getting into the pipe work. If the latter was to happen then a nasty explosion would result. This is why cylinders must be secured in the upright position.
Still missed the basic point - you can't get butane/propane 30/70 mix gas in the first place. I also wouldn't try it at all. Coleman propane cylinders are considerably more robust (due to the high pressure requirements) than Campingaz CV tin cans!
Filling from a calor butane (propane would be higher pressure so a nono) bottle would cost about 50p for a CP250, yet you can buy them for around £1. So no a massive saving when you consider the cost of the adapter & the risk.

Not sure what a CP250 is? Is it one of those aerosol can type cannisters for the little suitcase stoves?

Yes, the Campingaz version of the cartridge you describe.
in the states we have no choice but to refill the disposable campingaz CV canisters since new ones are no longer being imported.. a few years ago the American coleman company bought campingaz and coleman has slowly been discontinuing all campingaz products from the us market.
refilling is no problem if you have an accurate scale, and know how to do basic math. finding the required connectors and hoses can be a challenge, it took me a couple of months to find a markill adapter that fits the campingaz valve and changes it to the more universal threaded valve type. I mostly use lanterns so most of the time I refill with straight butane, but mixing in propane is no problem (fill with butane first, then finish filling with propane)
Can you use disposable gas cans to supply a campinggaz two ring/toaster
classic 'briefcase' style 'cooker'?
Going to Scilly this year and have strict weight restrictions - was hoping to leave the calor propane 5kg 'keg/bottle' we normally use and just take a couple of disposables cans or just buy one at the campsite.
The cooker has 'standard' push/click on regulator - could I just swap this out for another type of regulator -screw on etc which would make it compatible for a 'disposable can?
You'd likely have to cut off threaded Cadac appliance coupling, and push bare ended hose onto cooker inlet stem, and secure with a Jubilee type hose clip. Only concern is if hose is compatible diameter, you may also have to change cooker stem inlet to suit! Try to measure hose diameter before purchase.
Be prepared to change cartridges VERY frequently if using both burners and grill, they only hold 240g gas and Campingaz state your cooker Gas consumption: 327 g/h, so about 40 mins run time at max consumption.
