Topic: Struggling to choose new stove

Not sure wheather to get a Campingaz chef, a campingaz party grill or something else i've not discovered yet. For the last couple of trips we have used our home bbq which has a side burner, but we took a van and can't do that each time.

Any preferences please? We are a family of greedy sods so always cook plenty.

Just an ordinary 2 burner stove & 907 bottle works for me, a Sunngas stove I've had for yrs. I put a windbreak round it.

If you don't need a grill, I would look at a coleman duel fuel two burner stove. It runs on Coleman fuel (expensive), Aspen (cheaper but tricky to get hold of) or unleaded petrol.
I have used one of these using unleaded exclusively for the past few years and think it's great. It is really efficient on fuel, and unleaded is really easy to get hold of.
On top of that, the stove has been around for decades and has a great reputation.
If you're a bit jumpy about dealing with petrol, it might not be for you - I've only ever had one issue, which was due to one of the kids messing with it - a lesson learned for me!

I was told by a friend that the best cooking appliance is a cadac. He has 1 and apparantly you can bbq on it, fry, boil and if you get the right 1 with the domed lid, you can use the lid as a wok. I am looking for 1 myself, but there not all that cheap-average about £70-£80, plus im guessing the gas is extra. But it does come in its own bag!

Whilst I do love our campingaz party grill, it does have it's limitations due to the size of its cooking area.

It's perfect for two, and doable for two adults and a toddler, but much more than that, and you will have to either juggle things around to have everything cooked at the same time, or cook and serve some, while cooking more.

Having said that, it is the best gas powered BBQ type cooker I have used for general BBQ type foods and breakfasts.
