This is a pretty good place to browse in order to pick up a few ideas http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/cat.htm People have lots of views on dish size but I would have thought that 60cms should cover all options in the UK even into Scotland. If you don't go so far north then a smaller dish might be OK. It makes life a little easier having a dish with a folding LNB arm. Triax is a pretty good make. I have a Maxview tripod which is good quality.

To make life easy you should look out for a "Easy Find" system. These have a very easy to use alignment system. Basically, you switch on the sat box and TV, select the satellite you want from the sat box menu. The LNB has a LED which lights up in red, amber and green according to signal strength and a similar display on the TV screen gives an indication of signal strength and signal quality.
Oh, and don't be conned into buying a £50 tripod. They are almost identical to disco speaker stands (the aluminium ones) that you can pick up on Ebay for less than £10... Just drill a hole in the end of each leg to let you peg it down to make it a bit wind proof.

Unfortunately you have to manually point the dish at the satellite, just like you have to point a TV antenna at a TV mast. But it is a much more precise setting, hence my recommendation of the 'Easy Find' system.
To get an idea of where to point your dish (and an idea of how many satellites there are) take a look at www.dishpointer.com

Cheers

My recommendation would be THIS ONE and buy your own tripod. Disco speaker stand off ebay for example CLICK HERE

Good luck!
