Hi all, over the last year we have been gathering bits of camping gear together as we like to go camping to have a break from our elder teenagers. The last thing we need to purchase is something to keep food cold.

The choices are:-
1. Electric Cool Boxes
2. Igloo Cool Boxes
3. Colemans QT Range Cool Boxes.

We have seen there is lots of great advice on here and are hoping that you may be able to recommend what would be best and describe the good the bad and the ugly.

Hi when we had a trailer tent we used an electric cool box along with mains adapter to run it of EHU.

it depends on how long you are away for. For example if you bought an Icey-Tek box and filled it with ice you would get a week out of it. The advantage of this is you do not need to bother about finding electricity. You can also top up with ice from the supermarket. More than a week and you would need a powered device.

Our next Coolbox is going to be one that keeps cool for 5 days!

I have found on eBay they aren't much more than a decent powered cool box.

As others have said, the beauty is that you won't need power... but it also means if you're going for a day trip you can throw it in the boot of your car and pack all the food you will want for the beach etc. Obviously with a powered one it just acts like a normal cool box.
