Is the not connecting the hose an easy mistake to make? Or is it something which if you check you should notice?

No that was all ok. And it was pushed on correctly. I’ve been using this barby a long time. Never had a problem till today. Just be careful. I have been on web site and see they no longer make it. This says it all. They have replaced it with a metal base now.

My Cadac Safari Chef just caught fire from the Cadac crimped hose connection from the regulator. It's melted the legs off, temperature knob melted, igniter cable etc etc. Now doubting durability and safety as my family were sitting around this.
