For anyone interested Lidl have a portable toilet for sale £39.99, and it looks the spit of a Thetford Porta Potti 365 which sells for almost £100. Couldn't resist we have just bought one.

What's the build quality like? Some Lidl stuff is good and some is very shoddy. If it is a good solid bit of kit then it looks like a bargain

I got the one from Aldi last year, save taking the one out of the camper when I want to go without Richard (my car won't tow the camper).   Although we didn't get to go camping due to circumstances beyond our control, we did use it the one time we garden camped, and it does seem very sturdy.

We got one a couple of years ago.  It is made by Thetford, says so somewhere on it or on the box.  It's of good quality.  A bargain.

We got one aswell, it is indeed a Thetford as the instructions all have Thetford on them and the chemicals included are also Thetford.  When you unpacked yours did you have a bag with 2 plastic caps in, one for the waste tank and one for the top tank.  In the same bag I had a small nut and I can't figure out what it is for or even if it was supposed to be in there at all.

Yes! just got one this morning £39.99 its the same as thetford, take it apart and its got thetford serial number stickers on it as well as 2 samples of thetford chemicals.... bloody bargain!!!!!!

We got one 3 years ago in Lidl at the end of summer for £10 its definitely a Thetford. We've not used ours yet though - No space in the car for it. Still in the box.

Yes thats right however ours didn't come with a small nut, so perhaps that is a rogue nut. By the way there are still about three left in the Blackpool store, two have damaged boxes but the portable loos inside look OK.

Thanks for the heads-up.

I have just bought my first tent (Vango Icarus 600) and was on the lookout for a toilet - so this was too good to miss.

As I was in the Telford branch, my friend rang me and asked me to get him one as well - so I got the last two.

Was in Lidl Ashton-Under-lyne this morning they had 4 on display, well 3 now as I bought one.

On comparison to my Thetford 235 Porta-Potti, which must be around 2004 vintage, I would say this Lidl offering is made of slightly less heavy material, but no reason why it won't be just as good.

Also the Lidl unit looks a little larger, although that could be the bright white finish, compared to the beiege finish of my 235.

Anyway the 235 was given to us by a friend 3 years back, so I thought it was about time I bought my own,in fact, since owning the 235 I have replaced the bellows and Flush Tube, two very easy jobs although the parts cost nearly as much as the Lidl unit.

The 235 is now being passed onto an elderly relative, not for camping use as you may guess, the 235 has still got a good few years left in it, no doubt more than it's new owner.

The Lidl unit "RockTrail" is as others have mentioned a Thetford unit, and for £40 is a bargain, espcially as it comes with Tank/Flush fluid samples.

Although I guess the Lidl unit, has been specialy produced for Lidl, making for a difficult comparison wth the Thetford units in camping shops, costing around £100 although I stand to be corrected on that.
