Hi folks in the know...
Decided to poke my head round the back of my Camp-let fridge and noticed that there seems to be a power socket connection in the back that runs to the cigarette socket for power. Is the fridge a 12v or can I simply plug it directly in to the mains using this socket in the back of the fridge?
Any specs for the fridge would also be welcome..

Thanks

Cheers wongers..
I have been chatting backwards and forwards in that thread and I'm just waiting for postie to deliver my 12v adaptor to see it that idea will work. But I was being nosey the other day and stuck my head in the hole where the bowl sits and noticed the connection so it got me wondering if I could just plug in a mains connection straight in to the back of the fridge.

The fridge you describe is a 3way fridge. The 12v power can only be used while towing powered from the car, it needs the full 13odd volts while driving, it cannot be run off a 12v battery while sited, it would drain battery quite quickly. On site you need to run from either 230v ehu or gas.

They are a 12v fridge/cooler with a 12v fan
Not a 3way
Here's a pic.

If it is for mains 230volt use, there will be a proper mains lead and 13A plug fitted. The mains led will be sheathed and not just two strips of cable.

For 12volt it will have a car cigarette lighter plug on it, probably with a cable like two single cables stuck together.

If it is a 3way, it will be very deep with vents at the back to allow the heat to escape and will have a connection for gas.

There will very likely be a plate on the back giving details of power consumption under the various modes of operation.

Do not under any circumstances cut the cigarette lighter plug off and fit a mains 13A plug.

It's not 240v or gas....

On the pic with the switch there is a hole in the casing, through the hole is another switch with this:

So it seems it's not just a fridge/cooler but its a warmer as well.
My question is how do I power it up when on site obviously its not feasible to leave it connected to the towing vehicle for a week.
Somebody on her reckons they made a fly lead with two cig lighter sockets that doesn't seem right as there is only one female cig socket and that is live when connected to the towing vehicle

If it warms as well then its a peltier type coolbox I
guess. To run it on Ehu buy a coolbox mains adaptor from
any camping shop, cost aroud £15. These have 12v cig
lighter socket & mains plug.

I've got mine sorted:
Double ended male-male 12v cig. Lead one side connected to 12v power source the other connected to 12v cig. Socket on the fridge panel, pull out the golf tee style push pull switch and slide the switch inside the panel hole to hot/cold the corresponding light will come on,
When cold selected you can here the fridge fan.
Happy days for me at least
