The Satellite systems are very good apart from the Dish, which will be way to small for Southern France, if your wanting to watch UK stuff, the small Dish is realy intended for reception of stuff from Astra1, HotBird, and Hispasat etc, which put down a very strong signal over Southern Europe, hence the small Dish.

The UK stuff comes from the Astra2 fleet, so minimum of 50cm Dish for France, although in the South you will need an 80cm, I know having used both (gallery).

The receiver is a Comag badged Aldi unit, superb bit of kit, we have an older 12v/240v one as backup for camping, and at home have a mains only model, tuned into the French satellite AtlanticBird/Telcom 2C, get loads of FTA French channels on that to help me with my woeful French language learning, but to be honest I just ogle at the Meteo girl presenters.

Fact is, for watching UK TV in France, you are better using a Sky Box c/w Freesat card, very easy to set up, and if you already have Sky at home, you will be familiar with the uber user friendly EPG.

We use an old Sky Mini-Box aka Javelin 2000 receiver, runs of 12v or 240v, very compact, sadly they no longer make them, but a regular std Sky box will do much the same job.
