Hello

Preparing for our camping trip next weekend and we have been given a large and small calor gas bottles. Is there anyway finding out how much gas is in them?

My husband has weighed them and there is 1 kilo and 8 kilos in the small and large but is that a sure way to work it out and if so how much cooking time on a cadac or 2 stove burner would a kilo give us?

Thank you

If you look in the instruction manual of your stove it should give you gas consumption per/hr.

Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.

From the Calor website:

» How can I monitor how much gas is left in a cylinder?

Calor’s 5kg and 13kg Patio Gas® cylinders and the Calor Lite® are fitted with Calor's new Gastrac® - an indicator which tells you when you are running low on gas.

For all other cylinders, the empty tare weight can be found on a metal disc on the shroud, this gives the weight of the cylinder in pounds and ounces. To convert this to kilograms multiply this number by 0.453592. Once you have the empty weight of the cylinder you can put it on some scales, then you will have the total weight, so you can now take the empty cylinder weight off the total, this will give you how much gas you have left in the cylinder.
» What is the empty weight of bottles?

All bottles will vary depending on their size, etc. The weight written on the metal disc on the shroud is the weight of the empty cylinder.

Pour boiling water down the side then feel it. Where the metal is hot to the touch it's empty, and where it's cold there's gas.
