Hi

This is my first post so apologies if I'm in the wrong area!

Having started Caravanning at the end of last year we have been out in our second hand 2000 Avondale Avocet van 8 or 9 times now but have not yet ventured into raising the awning which came it. (but without any instructions).

It is a Eurovent Sancerre awning (about 8 years old I think) with carbon poles and everything seems to be there and I think I have worked out how the frame fits together . . . but am a little confused about the pads to fix to the van.

I have a dozen or so black rubber pads similar to those on the link below (I only need 5 I think) with a hole for the awning pole "hook" and a flap which I believe needs to be fixed to the awning itself . . . how is this fitting best achieved?

. . . or would I be better to buy some different pads right from the off.

Any advice would be appreciated . . . or if anyone has a manual for the Sancerre that could be scanned and posted then I would be very grateful.

thanks

Phil

You can glue or stick those type of pads onto the awning. We used to have a Sancerre and I sewed them on.

Any particular type of glue?

Presumably a contact adhesive (Evo Stick or similar) would be good for rubber to fabric . . . but don't want to risk damaging the awning with something that might affect the proofing!

I'm not sure, but you should be able to stick them to the awning beading rather than the actual awning canvas, this is where you'd sew them on as well.

We have a Sancerre awning, but our pads are different - plastic ones that fit on to the 'secondary beading'.

alot of people with thos type of pads used to drill two holes in them and the secondary bead bead edging and attach with a plastic screw and wing nut.
Will stay on alot better than glue.
They have a diferent type of "fix on" now (Eurovent) which is an "L" shaped bracket that again clips onto the secondary bead edging, which has a little clip on top of it to clamp onto the bead edging

If you have the secondary beading you can use the pyramid awning clamps, much easier.

Thanks for all the replies . . . I like the idea of the plastic wing nuts into two drilled holes . . . will try that one first I think.

What a helpful lot you are!!

thanks

Sorry to bring back an old thread.  This is really a question for Tunstallwood or Ben from Jacksons - or anyone else for that matter.

Our 2009 Eurovent Sancerre has the L shaped brackets Ben mentioned.  I would prefer to replace these with a more enclosed pad like the Dorema, Kampa, Isabella etc - not so keen on the Pyramid as they are more open.  The secondary awning beading on the Sancerre is slightly smaller and the Dorema quick lock pads are loose.  Does any one know if the Kampa or Isabella pads fit the Eurovent?

Just thought I would bump this one up! (not done it before).  Just thought someone might know the answer to my question, who has not seen it.  See post above.
