We are trying to locate a replacement water container and going for a jerry can version this time. Has anyone used any of the these or could suggest an alternative with a tap at the top rather than bottom and made of good strong plastic? We want 10 litre max that will fit within a space 34 x 33 x 15-20cm.

So far come up with:

Easy Camp Jerry can (10ltr) with the separate filling point, which could be useful. Highlander and Lichfield do similar.

Unbranded 10 ltr version with a single filling/tap connector, but a couple of cm thinner which would help with packing. There are several of these on the market.

The other option is to go for a 5ltr one without a tap.

The Sunncamp/ Sunnflair ones look good but are too tall. The Highlander and Gelert upright ones have the tap at the bottom which we don't want. We certainly don't want a flexible version - been there and done that!

I found these when I was looking for something similar to you

Dimensions may not be quite right, and tap is on bottom but worth a look perhaps.

This

and this one may be the same as you have already found

We buy our 5ltr ones without a tap from Tesco for 97p and they come full of water and with a useful handle. 14cm x 14cm x37cm

We use two MSR 10ltr Dromadry bags one with a tap or spigot as they call it ! There so tough weve had our for 15year and still no sign off wear . They can be hung up or laid flat and take no room at all when empty . Only issue could be the price !

Thanks for the input.

We've looked at the options and like the ones with a separate air intake to stop the glugging effect with taps etc. However, they are just a little too big (wouldn't fit in the Sunncamp washing-up bowl below the parcel shelf  - I know  - but I have a strict packing scheme). We also already have a hanging water carrier for ultra compact camping, but it doesn't work for longer camps for us - we like to be able to tip rather than have to lift if you know what I mean and there is no hanging point. So we're now looking at going simple with a 5 ltr traditional screw top type jerry can with a large enough opening to allow air in as water flows out. May also be better not having a large water carrier cooking in the sun for several days, allowing all those little bugs to grow.... May also fit in the cool box too...

Just got to decide which one: Gelert, Highlander or Royal? Decisions, decisions... and only over a water carrier

I know the one - unfortunately too tall - but certainly one that we looked at.

Anyway - decision made. OH has chosen the Highlander 5lt one with its attached cap (so can't be lost). £5.99 including delivery - not bad!.

Thanks again for the suggestions!
