Hi, could I ask you lovely people for your advice/ideas again please?
I'm taking a 1 burner gas stove away and don't want to take a table etc and still haven't bought a windguard for the stove. (1st time away....)
Do you have any ideas what I could use as a windguard (DIY with no DIY skills) and can I put the stove directly on the ground?? I'm very reluctant to use the stove in the tent or buy a utility tent etc. Thankyou!
Yes you can use it on the ground, just make sure it is as level as possible.
As for a windshield, if it is one that comes in a plastic carry case then you can stand the case on end, one side will tuck neatly under the side of your stove and the other can be kept in place with a heavy object.
We use our backpacker stove on a granite mat, which provides a nice stable base and is heat resistant. Not something you want to lug around if backpacking, but fine for a car. Useful for your drinks too.
The folding panelled windshields are only a few quid from such as Wilkinsons and have prongs that push into the ground.
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!

Brilliant thankyou!
Another question has just sprung.......is it safe to transport the canisters in the boot of the car please?
Remember to leave the caps on to prevent other objects pressing on the valve.
