Hi, I have a Sunncamp lightwight nylon porch awning for my caravan and I have a problem with it in that in anything more than a slight breeze both ends of the awning start to come away from the awning rail. I have tried taking the guy ropes nearest the van walls over the top of the van to try to stop the awning pulling away but it still starts to come out.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you solve it?
I get very worried when it's windy, expecting to come back to find the awning on the floor and my kit scattered across the campsite!
I have a full canvas awning and this does not have the same problem so I don't think the actual rail on the van is the problem.

It may be the rail on the van has opened up a bit then if the new awning fixing is slightly smaller it can pop out,i had the same problem with one of mine the channel had opend a bit over time still gripped the main awning but needed a gentle squeeze with the pliers.

If you dont want to grip /squeeze your awning rail then you could use some twine / string - tie it at one end of the awning and run along the tape as you are feeding it through. This will have the effect of having a thicker piece of awning rail plastic similar to your large awning or put some tape all the way along the awning over the plastic bit that slides in the awning rail to thicken it or tape the string on if its a larger diameter than the plastic -  just some quick fix thoughts.

Thanks for those ideas Andy - I'm not keen to attack the rail with plyers so I will give those suggestions a try next time I use it. I'm wondering if putting some duck tape around the plastic bit for the first 12" or so on each end would do the trick, like you say it just needs to be a bit wider to stop it coming out.
Will have a ponder............
