I was considering one of the dubble sized raised type, but which one would suit us best? my wife and I arn't exactly lightweights so it would need to take the strain.....not worried about built in pump as in my veiw if that goes wrong thats the bed crackerd and it pushes up the initial cost.
So what are your reccomendations for a comfortable nights sleep.....
------------- When you wake up in the morning to the sounds and sights of the campsite, ask yourself one question.....who's nicked my tent?????
Aerobed is IMO the one of the best airbeds around, more expensive than most others but once they have all deflated on you and you've had to buy again and again you'll have probably spend just as much anyway, they hold 204kg (32 st), I like them as they are normal height so easy to get in and out of and best of all some are half price http://www.aerobed.co.uk/pages/compare.asp
I second Woofers - Aerobeds are the most comfortable airbeds I've ever slept on. In fact probably more comfortable than most of the proper mattresses I've had too.
There is another make which do a similar range but the name escapes me... I believe they're also very comfy but can't say from personal experience, don't know if they last as long as Aerobed either but perhaps they are just as good ? Can't fault my Aerobed though
We've just had to take our aerobed back and get a refund as it got a puncture during the night. We'd already had it replaced due to a previous puncture. Both punctures were at the seem where the 2 chambers joined together and we're therefore impossible to repair.
They were by fay the most comfortable air beds we've tried but at that price you expect it to last. 2 punctures in less than a year is not good. We've got a coleman now but only slept on it for 3 nights so need to wait and see how it compares....
Just an alternative is the camingaz convertible, we have this system
Rather than a double you do not meet in the middle
If you buy two you have 4 singles, 2 doubles or 2 double depth mattresses, the fact you can split them up makes a rather versatile system when you might have a few staying over the house.
Another vote here for the aerobed. I suffer with a bad back and after 7 nights on it (camping at the moment) and it's by far the best we've had. No needing to reinflate, no back ache and slept better than I do at home. We've had the Coleman comfort, various sims and not got on with any of them. We went for the kingsize low one (not double height) from M&S off all places after someone kindly posted a link on here after Xmas. It came with it's own washable cover and at £35 was a total bargain.

Another vote for aerobed, it was as good if not better than our kingsize at home. Both of us have back problems and it was brilliant. I'd never go back to any other airbed.

I have the single version of this Outwell Flocked double. It is slightly larger all round than most airbeds so check that it will fit your bedroom pods. Nice bed though, and although not advertised as double height it is certainly quite high.
We have an Intex Queen and it is great. We have a joint weight of around 35 stone plus the dog and we blow the bed up at the beginning of April, maybe one or two top ups and then we deflate at the end of September, cos we sleep in the awning rather than the caravan, and we both sleep better than we do at home. I think you can still get them for around £20 so hardly breaks the bank.
Would never use an airbed to sleep on, although they are good fun in the sea, which I can highly reccomend them for, best not to use the one with built in pump for that though.
We use two SIM's "ThermaRest DreamTime XL's" they fasten together with embedded straps, to make a QueenSize double, they are the muts-nuts, and definatley do what it says on the tin.
