CALLING ALL MONTANA OWNERS, Just wondering if someone can help.
I'm away in my new montana 6 and am having the same problem as my dad who has the 2010 model. There seems to be tension on the porch support bar which is pulling at the tent lining and making it difficult to zip the side door.
I've adjusted all straps and bars and have eased it a little but still think it needs less tension.
Has anyone else had this problem and how have you fixed it
Possibly shortening the bars by a few millimeters either side could help?
Hi we`ve had our monty only a year but ive had previous outwell tents and have found in general that around the door areas we`ve found sometimes it seems over tight , i personally just try and loosen off said area as much as possible without lowering the integrity of tent , i hope that makes sense , rich
I cut 10mm from each end of the bar. There is still more than enough tension to keep the canopy taut (and still plenty of adjustment left on the strap to pull tighter if required).
I didn't shorten them due to the door not closing though, as long as I peg the tent down with the doors closed its not a problem. It was done more because the pole themselves just seemed too long. The ends now sit away from the sides of the tent and the bars dont bend when socketed. Easy fix.
My aunty was with us and had a Nevada M tent. I thought it was clever the way it went up with clear plastic connectors that hook the fibreglass poles to the metal ones, and it got me thinking about making somthing similar on my Montana.
That way the porch poles would attach to the main body poles leaving the fabric. It would have to be quick release though so something designed along the same lines as the tents own clips.
I'm going to see if I can get some spare porch poles from Outwell in case it doesn't work leaving me stuck without anything.
