Its true, we are being forced by the campsite in France to use a Cadac, our friends are going with us so they bought the Cadac. We bought the Safari but not tested yet, What a pile of crap it is, on Saturday it was windy and it kept blowing out, we then put it in a sheltered place in the garden and it did not get that hot. Ended up cooking the food in the cooker in the kitchen. I checked the gas level, the burner unit, made sure the heat deflector was on the right way and and it just did not get that hot. No wonder they had to set up a sub/sub forum (I love my Cadac)My friend was pretty fed up after parting with £ 130. I said he should have bought a cobb!!

i cant ancwer yet but i can say if he spent £130 on the a safari model he was done, as most of them are about the £70 mark, the carri chef deluxe is going for £109 from tesco.
it sounds like you have the hp one with the cartridge type gas, alot of people have moaned about the plates not getting hot enough.

we have previously had 2 cadacs and tried a cobb but it wasnt our cup of tea,far to many parts etc for our needs not to say they are not good just more then we needed, anyway have just ordered a cadac safari low pressure model and cant wait i think like everything it comes down to personal preference i like the cadac as heat is instant and up to cooking temp in mins and cool in mins to wash up, where the cobb with a cobb stone burns for 3 hours far to long for me the wife and daughter and its a pain to wash up

Ya cant beat a Cadac IMHO. I really dont see how people cant get on with them? they are brilliant. If it's windy, put a flipping wind break up. Simples.

Am fed up with these Cadac's are rubbish buy a cobb and Cobbs are rubbish buy a cadac posts

Each to their own and some prefer one over the other and find one suits their needs better than the other

There are also many other methods of cooking and equipment to do it on.

Can't say I've ever heard of any campsite telling you what cooking equipment you MUST use - apart from saying no open fires or no bbq's directly on the grass as they don't want scorched patches all over the place - I would say a Cobb would do that as well

Reading through some of OP's previous posts he actually says Cadacs are good (for certain things)

Hi Yamster.

Sorry to disagree but the Cobb will NOT scorch the grass !! You can even pick it up whilst cooking and i have even used mine, sat on the dining room table !!

We've had a cobb for about 3 years and used it about 3 times - it's rubbish!!

We're contemplating buying a portable BBQ for our motorhome and won't be buying a cadac either, too many bad reviews of late.  They sound a bit over rated IMO.

OP - you could have got the safari chef for just over £50.00 online with Tesco, send the other one back!

another hear hear! from me too.

I love my cadac it's a safari chef used with a 907 cylinder, never had any problems with it blowing out, or food sticking to non stick surfaces, uneven heat or anything else. I use it camping, picnics home BBQ-ing. Paid £49 for it including P&P brand new.

Others, however, want and choose different things. Vive la différence!
