I see that Lidl have there roof bars on sale at the moment for £24.95 for a pair including fixing brackets. Maximum weight capacity 75kg. I'm wondering about getting some for our 07 Kia Sorento.
Has anyone bought these in the past? What are they like? Would you recommend them? Do all of brackets lock on or just one?
ive not seen them but the average roof bars hold 75kg
id just be careful about the mounts you get the mounts that go in the guttering of your car seem weaker than the ones that are design to go into prefixed roof bar holes

I purchased these roof bars today so haven't tried them yet but they look ok, a bit lightwieght compared to my old halfords bars but these are aluminium bars with plastic mounts, not steel as was my old one.
According to the box they hold up to 90kgs but obviously if your car roof limit is lower then thats the one to go by.
They attach by tightening an allen key which clamps the mount to the rail then a key to lock into place. just one lock per bar.
Kia sorento 02> compatable, again according to the box.
I got these for mounting on my trailer so for £25 their a bargain. just don't expect a £175 set of bars for £25
------------- I've forgotten more than I care to remember!
I popped into Lidl tonight and bought a pair of these roof bars. They're anodised aluminium with black plastic fittings and they look good on my silver Kia Sorento.
The bar fittings are tightened using an Allen Key. It's a bit fiddly to locate the socket but once that's done they tightened up well. There's a key operated lock at one end of each bar. The bars are TUV approved and made in Italy.
For the occasional use I have planned I think I've got a bargain at £24,99
Still some left in 2 Lidl stores local to me so you can probably still get some if you want them.
Why use as roof rack, we just had (no longer have car) two pieces of timber across the roof bars. Tying down straps kept it all in place, and lower to the roof line. And free as we already had the wood
------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
our new roof bars arrived yesterday...Supra Roof Bars...bought from Asda...they range from £44 to £55 and are designed to fix to the fixing points in a car rather than to rails...they look nice and sturdy...
worth mentioning to those still looking for them most of the kayaking forums i use sell loads of kayaking kit, but do see a few roof bars about on there,
