I just got a Vango 3cm double mat for my son. It's a double so he'd have loads of space. When it came it's actually a twin. Which I don't mind because folded in two it's a lovely 6cm mat! I may be converted for me and the OH who are currently re-using the old rubberised cotton airbed we bought when first camping 13 years ago. It's ok but gives you that sweaty-yet-cold feeling. Looking at the Vango for my son I may be a convert but need bigger ones. OH is 6ft 4" and I want something I can spread out on so anything narrow is out. What's out there that satisfies these requirements? Trouble is I've been spoilt because I got the Vango for a bargain price. As much as I'd love to plump for 2 xl thermarests, it's just not in budget!!!
No, I got a double from Simply Hike which has subsequently gone out of stock. Got it for £15. I think someone there may have made a mistake (though to be fair I ordered a very expensive swimming costume from one of their sister 'Simply' companies a while back so I don't feel too bad!!).

I read the first bit, thought "Thermarest Dream Time XL". Then read the budget bit.
They really are the bees knees if you can justify the money.
Don't know what else to suggest short of selling a distant relative into slavery to raise the money, but I'm sure someone will be along in a bit with a more useful idea.
Like andycwb mentions, the "ThermaRest DreamTime XL's" definatley do what it says on the tin, I know the OP mentioned they are over budget, but for others reading this, they are worth the money, or at least they were when we got our two back in 2008.
The pair fasten together to form an almost seemless QueenSize bed, we topped ours of with a made to measure fitted QueenSize heavy cotton sheet, although the setup is sheer indulgence, and presents an awesome pack size, we sure do get a good nights sleep.
If anyone if after the Costco sims from the reading branch they only had 3 left today after I bought 5 for various friends today.
Was told that was the last delivery of them for this year
Had ours for 2 years and they are excellent. We have 2 side by side, with a double duvet and then a fitted sheet on top to hold it together as a double bed.
