Quote: What's out there that satisfies these requirements? Trouble is I've been spoilt because I got the Vango for a bargain price. As much as I'd love to plump for 2 xl thermarests, it's just not in budget!!!
I read the first bit, thought "Thermarest Dream Time XL". Then read the budget bit.
They really are the bees knees if you can justify the money.
Don't know what else to suggest short of selling a distant relative into slavery to raise the money, but I'm sure someone will be along in a bit with a more useful idea.

I would definately recommend the costco mats as good value - they are thick and comfy
Yes you do need to be a member to shop there - there is one in Watford (A41)

You can buy them for £35.00 including postage from eBay. I presume that these are Costco customers flogging them to the general public.
------------- Armchair camper with more tents than I will probably ever get the use out of.

Like andycwb mentions, the "ThermaRest DreamTime XL's" definatley do what it says on the tin, I know the OP mentioned they are over budget, but for others reading this, they are worth the money, or at least they were when we got our two back in 2008.
The pair fasten together to form an almost seemless QueenSize bed, we topped ours of with a made to measure fitted QueenSize heavy cotton sheet, although the setup is sheer indulgence, and presents an awesome pack size, we sure do get a good nights sleep.

I've got two of the costco singles - they're 10cm thick - plety long enough. My OH is 6'1" and he's fine on it.
I link them together just by using a double fitted fleece sheet.
Thety're very comfy - think they £18 each.

If anyone if after the Costco sims from the reading branch they only had 3 left today after I bought 5 for various friends today.
Was told that was the last delivery of them for this year
Had ours for 2 years and they are excellent. We have 2 side by side, with a double duvet and then a fitted sheet on top to hold it together as a double bed.
