The Waeco CAB 40 (Grey) goes to 30Deg below ambient, the Blue model does 20Deg below ambient.

Both should be OK for UK and all but the most Southern parts of Europe.

For the South of France during July, we use a small portable compressor fridge/freezer, which works fine no matter how hot the ambient temp gets. only runs on 12/24v or mains, so no gas option, which is fine for us.

We've got the Waeco Blue, we've used it all over Southern Europe with no problems at all. In fact don't know what we do without it.

I was wondering about the Waeco Mobicool B40 Hybrid.  I only runs on mains and 12v - not gas.  The thermoelectric is -20C ambient (12v), but in compressor mode it can provide deep freezing to -15C.  Does anyone have any experience of this fridge.  It seems a good bet to me.  Perhaps those that advertise -33C ambient are unlikely to get down to that temperature if you work off the car cigarette lighter.  When on site we would always use electric and therefore would achieve maximum cooling.  Any thoughts?  Am I right or wrong about the car cigarette lighter bit?

I have a Royal 42L 3 in one and I can say that I have noticed no difference on my fridge between power sources (it has a 90w AC/DC unit) so can cool the same on any electric source. As for gas, again it is fantastic, but the fridgfe MUST be level for it to cool correctly. I have had mine for 4 years now and it performs as good as the day I got it.

It cools to -25 ambient temp which is more than enough for our needs

Good luck wth the search

Sounds like there is something wrong with your fridge - if its a Mobicool CAB40 then it should cool nicely. What colour is it?   Can you post a pic to clarify which model it is?

What power is it not cooling on? You'll probably find it needs to be very level to work well on gas.   If it's not cooling on electric then turn it off, turn it upside down, leave it for 24 hours and turn it the right way up and try it again, that usually helps.

I would, it sounds a bit odd but it does work - we make sure we do this to ours at the start of each season. It ought to work fine so I'd give it a go.   Don't forget when you get out and about and run it on gas it needs to be properly level to work well.

Good luck, let us know if it works!

I've got a Quest 3 way fridge and am very pleased with it. It works really well on both electric and gas and makes ice cubes too! I got mine for £99 from Tamworth Camping's ebay store.

I'd rather be camping
