I got a 907 empty and a 904 full and sealed from my local recycling/refuse centre on sunday for a £5 hand shake off one of the operatives there, i've had a couple before as well i think its re-cycling taken to the next level as i use the gas then return them. the last time i paid to have one refilled it cost £23 from cumbria gas in kendal i was gutted. a new full bottle including deposit could be around £50 to £60 from your local gas bottle centre.
A full 907 from a supplier will cost £30 for bottle + £20 odd for contents so well over £50. So reasonable deal provided it is full. There should be a red plastic seal on top.
Otherwise you can often find empty of partly full ones on carboot sales for less than a fiver. It don't matter how old or rusty the bottle is you can still exchange at suppliers just paying for contents.
Managed to get my two of each, 901, 904 and 907 from my local tip, and folk moving from tent to caravan, so 6 cylindrs in total, cost to me was around £10 in total, and some of the cylinders were full!.
we get our gas bottles from boot sales when we see them at the right price,in the past we have got 3 907 bottles for £3 each, and a 4.5 kg one for £5.try to find a bottle even if empty,we have just exchanged our 907,it cost £19,its cheaper to get bigger ones, but they wont fit in our unit
Try the council tip. Unlike Calor, you "own" a Campingaz cylinder rather than "borrow" it. The initial outlay & gas are more costly than Calor BUT you can exchange an empty for a full one anywhere. Try your local recycling centre. They are not supphosed to give away or sell anything, but the staff are usually happy to get rid of gas cylinders. You may even find one with gas in it.
I've been told to make sure the Camping Gaz cylinders have the screw-in key/handle thingy on the top. If you don't have this you can't exchange the bottle.
Is this true???
I suppose if you were running 2 bottles you would only need one key, but it's worth thinking about if you're offered a cheap one without this. No good to you if you can't exchange it.

You can still exchange the bottle its just that you wont get the top on the new one, we would take the top off the new one and put it on the older cylinder for when we exchange the bottles again with campingaz they have to have it on.
& now I know they sell them in GO, which is a shame' as there isn't one of those anywhere near me, now I've moved out of Bristol & back to Sussex.
I don't use gas anyway (coleman stove, run on petrol) well, not big bottles, only cartridges for the heater.
My brother uses Camping Gaz in his trailer tent though, & he's looking for another bottle, as he only has one.
I'll pass it all on to him.
