We use fleece liners bought from Lidl. Exceptionally cosy addition to camping. These liners have a joining zip all the way waround to provide two seperate blankets.
It should be an easy joby to to sew two blankets together. Get the design right, to make it easy to get in and out.
Thoroughly recommend them.

I think it would be fine! Or just put one blanket underneath, and one over the top of your sleeping bags.
I have a full length fleece dressing gown (from a cheapie shop - around 4.99) and if its very cold, I put that on and then get into my sleeping bag. Nice and cosy.
An alternative is always fleece pyjamas/jog pants and fleece jumper over your normal sleeping clothes.
For little kids, I'd get them a fleece dressing gown and sew up the seams and the bottom, so they have an extra 'sleeping bag' with arms in!
If you have an EHU, a little oil filled mini radiator will also take the chill off - x 1!

I remember my mother sewing an old eiderdown (pre-duvet) to make my brother a sleeping bag. Folded in half, sewn along base and zip inserted. She did similar with blanket but used cotton tape 'ribbons' to fasten side. He then had choice of bags according to season. Your idea of making inner bags from blankets is do-able but as others have posted look at warmer pjs, blanket over/under. When my daughter was small I did as Jax365 and made her dressing gown into a bag.
Also many wear a warm hat at night and change into nightwear earlier then put clothes back on. That way you are warmer when you get into sleeping bag.

And bed socks.
I knew I'd forgotten something. Thanks for reminder as I'm getting ready to go on Friday.

I made a double fleece liner for our double sleeping bag when we tent camped one Easter as you just couldn't get double ones. Dead easy to run up on a sewing machine, but if you were considering actually doing them in fleece I doubt you would save much as the price of fabric at the moment is shocking.

Fold a fleece blanket in half lengthways and stick across the bottom and halfway up one side. Fits a square sleeping bag perfectly.
They do lovely soft fleeces in Primark for about £5.
