We had problems with the picnic table with attached chairs as we are quite tall and not as slim as I might like to be. We bought a table with two benches, the benches are free standing so one end can be closer to the table and as we are 5 the smallest one can perch quite comfortably on the end. The legs fold on the benches and they slot into the underside of the table then the table legs fold creating a quite nice flat (4-5inches) packable area. It fits into the middle well of our trailer tent.

Now the problem is a can't remember where I got it but a google search would probably flag something up.

Most of the sets have the same level seating and most are stools, don't know if you have seen this table, you basicly split the levels of the table to different heights if you wish, seperate them etc heres a link with some specs.

The folding picnic tables make good coffee tables as well to put the wine on when the kids have gone to bed, fold out the stool legs but leave the seats tucked under the table.

Hiyas, i would say go with seperate table & chairs. Go Outdoors have 50% sale on hi gear stuff at the moment ...maybe something suitable there. We have the 6 in 1 colman table...havent used it yet but as youlbury  says it can be used as 2 seperate tables at different heights, there are connectors so both tables can be joined & they can be side by side either way. We bought it because we wanted a slimline table & this fits the bill plus so many more options.
