hi has anyone got a duvalay if so are they any good? or can anyone recommend something other than a sleeping bag as have trouble turning over in night! dont really want to take sheets etc....
We have two duvalay and they are excellent, very comfortable to sleep in and easy roll up and take down. They are bulky but ours stays in the awning annexe during the day.
We now use two duvalays as we have started using the front beds as singles (less disturbence at night when one needs to go to the toilet) They are excellent but quite a bit more expensive but very comfortable without the "tied up" feel of sleeping bags. The ones we have are summer tog and I did wonder if they would be warm enough but no problem as we used them in April (with the heater on low at night if required) and they were great. They are bulky but ours still manage to fit in below the beds when rolled up.(Bailey Pageant)
Another plus point is that they are easily cleaned as the cover is just like a sheet so goes in the wash, they have a mattrass cover over the foam part, so fits in the washer easily and as the quilt is low tog again fits in the washer very easily.
I hate the restriction of a sleeping bag, I just use mine as a cover and a fitted sheet takes less than a minute to cover the bottom. A lot less bulky than the duvalays, which you only really need if your bunk is very hard or uneven.
On the subject of these, if you're handy with a sewing machine, all you need is a king size duvet cover, a single duvet and a single foam matress topper. Sew a channel down where the matress topper will insert into, then insert the duvet into the other half. They are very expensive I think for what they are. I know loads of people who have made their own for a fraction of the price.
I have a Duvalay (standard winter one) and I absolutely LOVE it!! Never use a sleeping bag now - always take my duvalay. Slightly more bulky than a sleeping bag but worth it!
I hate the "pinned down" feeling I get when using a sleeping bag and the memory foam is really comfortable. The covers come off for easy washing.
Yes, they are quite expensive but money well spent and I have never had a bad night's sleep since I started using it!
We've got them and love them. The only problem is they're so comfortable it makes it much harder to get up in the morning! The memory foam is a very good quality. We've got the winter weight duvets and have always felt really cosy. We have made up some inner bags with sheets (just folded along the side which is at the back of the duvalay and sewn up the foot end) to save having to wash the covers too much and if it gets too hot in the night (not very often) it means you can throw back the duvet bit and still have a bit of sheet on top of you.
hi--we too have 2 Duvalays, superb, really really great, no restless nights now, no zipping bags together, just great. A great investment for any caravanner/camper. cheers gary
