We need a new option for keeping food cool, and I'm trying to work out the best option...
Currently only have an 8 litre coolbox, which is far too small so have to go shopping every day - not what I really want on holiday!
Was looking at the 3-way fridges as don't want any noise and wouldn't need electric hookup, but then saw posts re safety on the gas setting when you have a sewn-in groundsheet, which we have (haven't managed to persuade husband that a canvas frame tent would be much better - he thinks 4-year-old will lean on the sides when it's raining and make it leak...).
So now wondering whether I'm better off getting one anyway and going on electric hookup (and keep trying to persuade husband we need a nice canvas frame tent), or whether to go for one of the better coolboxes...
Any thoughts? And what's a sensible size for a family of 3?
we have a 5 day Coleman 36L Xtreme...it would be plenty big enough for you, but it's a monster of a coolbox so you'd need to make sure you have room in the car before you make your final choice...

We use a Waeco CF25 works just like a domestic fridge/freezer, but is desighned for portable use.
Takes up little room in the car, so great for keeping stuff cool for on the journey, works well in the tent, as it runs virtualy silent. of either 12/24v or EHU.
Just treated ourselves to an Icey Tek. After 5 days baking in Wales, added a bag of ice (only needed because we had to empty it as hubby hadn't packed the frozen mince well so we had a pool of blood in the bottom ) Added another bag of ice on day 7 and everything was still well chilled when we got home again on day 9. We'd used 2 litre pop bottles, filled with water and frozen. We drank the water on the journey home and it was deliciously cold still. Well impressed!
it would be interesting to note the temperature each day to see if the contents are cold rather than cool.
seems though the box depends on huge quantities of cold water with a smaller amount of food you need to keep cold ,i presume this is why they are so big? at
