Calor will only touch their own cylinders.  It would need to go to a supplier who dealt with that brand.  This is why most campers use Calor or Campingaz.  The opposition refills are often cheaper, but they don't have the supplier network & often the dealers are not open weekends for the less popular brands.

Thanks guys.. It only £15 for a full 4.5kg one so I guess I could just get it and dispose afterwards!

The local recycling and refuge place dont take them (i've asked several staff in case they do but arent sharing the info lol).

Just found an energas supplier and rang to see how much it cost to refill, and she gave me a lecture on the fact I shouldn't be buying one as it isn't someone elses to sell! And it isn't the 'done thing and I should get one from then...

Ummmmm am I missing something here?

never tell them youve just brought it from someone, your not ment to resale bottles but people do, they just want to get a £30ish charge for hiring out the bottle to.

Greetings,

Of all the bottles to buy and you have bought Energas. If you put it into Google you will find that they hardly have a wide distrbution network. As another contributor said, use the supply and bin it.

Go to the tip and ask there. You can either get a Calor or as an alternative get a Flogas brand bottle. Their distribution network is just above as extensive as Calor but tends to be cheaper.

stick with calor or camping gaz ,if you run out while camping you probably will find thats all most sites stock.
if you have to fork out for a energas regulator you might as well buy a calor one and go the calor route .
a fiver for an empty calor cylinder at the tip and a refill and youl only be spending a fiver more than the energas one

In theory you "rent" a full cylinder.  When you no longer need it, you return the empty & they pass it on to someone else when refilled.  The gas company still "owns" the cylinder.  Campingaz is different as you "buy" your first cylinder from them & exchange for full one when empty.  As said, Calor or Campingaz can be found at pretty much any campsite in the UK, Campingaz just about anywhere in Europe.

I live in Yorkshire, and have had no trouble finding empty gas cylinders of various makes for FREE. I simply go for a drive in the country, whilst keeping an eye on the road side ditches. Last time out I picked up three. One I had re filled, and the other two I left with the dealer, as they looked much better in his gas storage cage.
