Just had two nights on the airbed only to wake up the shape of a banana and on the floor - also very cold.  I prefer to use duvet as a cover and am now considering a SIM for myself, hubby and five year old boy but are they really any good and any better or should I go for a very expensive airbed? please help, planning 10 night trip in a week.

We love our SIMS though they are a pain to deflate, seems to be a bit horses for courses.

We used a SIM for the first time last week and i have to say it was mega comfy.
Non of that waking up with a spine like a string of conkers,non of that being bounced around when the OH stands up or rolls over plus you can stand on a mat to get dressed/undressed with out feeling sea sick

Hi, we switched to sims for the very reason you mention. My husband and I have alpkit dozers and the children have costco sims which cost about £16 and do a good job for them. We are really happy with our choice - I have a bad back, had surgery in may, and find my dozer very comfy.

Very helpful, thankyou both, can you tell me what thickness you think is best to go for, I've seen a good price on a 3cm.

Hi, our dozers our 7.5cm which is a lovely thickness. The costco ones are slightly less. I would go for as thick as you can get.....

I have a 10cm (its a Gelert Adventure XL). It is very comfy and compacts to the same size as the kids 5cm Lidl ones do.

Hi, we have a 5mm SIM and its perfectly lovely to sleep on.  This year I also got Outwell Posadas camp bed and I use the SIM on top ... and to be honest is much more comfortable than my regular bed at home!  Up till now I've always used a sleeping bag, this weekend am going to try a duvet and see which I prefer ... recently I've felt somewhat restricted in the sleeping bag, so will give the duvet a go.  Can't wait!  PS I've never used an airbed so can't comment on it, sorry.
