Hi-all,we have just aquired an Isabella Ambassador awning for our Elddis Whirlwind 2 berth. It has the roof poles with hooks on the end. There are no brackets on the van to attach them to..Have looked at the Isabella fix on brackets but have no idea how they work. There are references to fixing onto tape on the awmig. We have no additional tape on the awning. Can anyone advise how they work?Have also looked at suction cups but where they look likely to have to be located the van is "corrugated" so they look likely not to adhere.Any advice would be appreciated. The only other way is to screw the generic plastic brackets to the van but am loathe to do so. Glenn
How old is the awning, Glenn? If there is no 'secondary beading' then it might be possible to sew some beading in in order to attach the pads. You could just sew little bits of beading on to the awning at the points you would expect the poles to go. If you don't feel confident to do it there are awning repair companies who would do it, I'm sure. A more recent awning would have a secondary beading anyway, so it would just be a question of getting the pads and attaching them. Isabella supply their own pads for their awning, so there would be no need to buy Dorema Quick-lock pads, although I suspect they might fit (but some secondary beadings ar thinner than others, so best to check).

Hi Alpina-thank you for your reply, unfortunately I do not have a secondary bead. Also where the suckers should fit the caravan wall is "corrugated" thus not giving a flat surface for them to adhere to.Still looking like I will have to use screw on brackets ,alas. Thanks again Glenn

You could have a word with Temples (based at Jacksons of Old Arley near Coventry). They may be able to attach some beading for the Quicklock pads for you.

Hi. I think you will find the "suckers" do not need to actually stick to the caravan. They can simply be used to spread the load over a wider area than the ends of the poles and to provide a soft surface so you don't scratch the van. We too have a corrugated wall and don't have problems with them. Just every couple of days slide them back into the best position. With our awning they are never going to move far as the poles go through loops near to the caravan end. Just make sure the suckers are clean underneath and the area of van they are going to is clean, and most importantly free from grit or they could leave scratch marks.
