Thought it would be better to start another thread on this as I seem to have lost the other one.  After discussion and with some help from ianbrown1957, I have been out today to buy one of these.

I found it at Riversway for £199, but with a charge for postage.  Ian found it for £199 and no postage charge from Premier Camping.  I then found out that Premier Camping and Towsure are basically the same company, and so I found it for £199 on the Towsure website.  Went to Towsure in Halesowen/Blackheath this afternoon to pick up one in time for the holiday.

So far it seems to be doing the job brilliantly.  Plugged it in at 4pm, by 5pm it was really icy cold.  Put ice cube tray in at 6pm, by 7pm I had ice cubes ready to go.  Will need to turn it down a bit for 'ordinary cooling' but I'm quite impressed so far.  Should cool the drinks in the awning nicely.  It does make a very quiet humming noise, but it won't bother us - I expect it will be less noticeable outside as the sound dissipates quicker outside, and resonance in the awning should be less than in the house.

That's the one Jusy.  The good thing about it is that it will go down to -15C and is less dependant on the outside temperature - it would be really good for France, and would be more than adequate for the UK.

The trouble with some similar looking fridges e.g. the Dometic RC1200, RC1700 and RC2200 is that the temperature is linked to the temperature outside.  I think it is the RC1200 that goes 25C lower than the temperature outside.  That means if the temperature in the awning gets up to 40C (and it can in the heat) then the coldest you can expect the RC1200 to go in these conditions is 15C, which for me wouldn't be much cop.  The RC1700 and RC2200 are better, but still not as reliable as the Mobicool B40, in my opinion.

Hope this helps.  It's a good price from Towsure.  Can't imagine it going much lower - you never know though.

(P.S. Counting down to Bashley now, Jusy?  We've got just over two weeks and then we're off.  Leaving son in mid 20's at home to 'house sit'.  Hope we'll have a house to come home to!!)

Only just spotted this Ian - thought I'd check after seeing that you'd posted elswhere on arials.  They had plenty in at Towsure - so I would think you would be OK.  I just wonder if they think they have over-ordered and are therefore cutting the price?  They may cut further, but I have a feeling in my bones that this is as good as it gets.  We'll see!  I know what you mean about the bank balance though, but hope you manage to get one soon.
