Just bought a outwell nevada M which I am chuffed to bits with and I would like your advice. So far I have bought sleeping bags, air beds, tables/chairs and a kampa Khazi :). Im looking for a good light that will last that is quite bright and I'm not sure what to go for. What does everyone do to keep stuff cold. I know the first day or so I will use the ice packs but then what do u do. Is there a basin that is suited to camping? Where do you take the dirty dish water and also empy toilet for instance?

After reading this lot you will gather that I haven't got a clue about camping. This is my first post so take it easy :)

Pitched the tent last night for the first time in the garden with success with a few swear words thrown in :) and I can't wait to book somewhere. Thinking of Weymouth as my OH wants to look for dinosaur bones, anyone been camping there.

Welcome to UKCS

Some csampsites will re-freeze your icepacks - either for free or for a small charge. We often do this option and change them in a morning and at night (so you'll need 2 sets)

Dirty dish water will only be an issue if you wash up at your tent - many sites have washing up areas with proper sinks.

To empty the toilet, sites have a chemical disposal point where you can empty the loo, and wash it out.

Not been camping in Weymouth, but I'm sure someone will be along soon to help on that score.

Hi welcome to the site.

We have electric hook up so use an Outwell Merope light, they are expensive but works well for us. If you are going down the battery route you can't go wrong with UFO lights, cheap and bright, Kampa do a large version which are very good. We have a 3 way fridge but prior to that we used a Halfords cool box that wroked well. As ElizaD says most sites have washing up facililities so no problem with waste water for washing, if you have waste water there is usually a waste water point somewhere on site. With respect to your Kampa Khazi, you should be able to just take the bucket bit to the toilet block and empty it there, unless you are using chemicals whcih should be taken to the chemical disposal point as already stated.
Good Luck

UFO lights are FAB!!!  just replaced ours for these cos they are so small and effective!!  think all the other points ave been covered - not been to weymouth since i was a kid - but if you look on the campsite search on here that should give you some ideas... it's a fab tool!

I also have the Nevada M and would suggest you also buy some "rock pegs" as the Outwell plastic pegs are no good in hard ground but are ok in normal/soft ground

Thanks for your help everyone. I will have a look for those rock pegs cos after one night camping in the back garden I took the tent done and noticed that the plastic pegs which look strong had curled up on the ends.

Have a look at the reviews for Rosewall (as it's been many years since I was last there).     Though not the nearest site to Weymouth, it's the one I'd choose if I were looking for a non-Club, coastal site in the immediate area.
