I am really stuck! I am looking to find the best sleeping bag I can, but, my budget is small, £30! I really feel the cold so it needs to be warm. Can any one please point me in the right direction?

I've got a Coleman Hudson sleeping bag. Its quite square in shape-I can't be doing with mummy type sleeping bags as I like my space!
It's also furry inside, I can't get warm in those with silky insides!

We have got vango nitestar 250 and never had a problem keeping warm. Helps if you make sure you are warm when you get into sleeping bag.

We have 3  coleman sleeping bags that we have found to be execelent. They have cotton inners so they don't get uncomfortable and they are well made for their cost.

2 of them we bought approx 10 years ago and have been well used but still like new, with no problems with zips and all the filling is in the right places even though thay have been washed a few times.

1 of them is a Coleman Hudson that we bought last year for our son. It appears to be of the same quality. and we would not hesitate in buying another coleman if we needed one.

If I remember correctly we went and looked at the hudson in a shop and then found it on the internet for £16 new inc del.

Hope this helps

May I suggest a cheap fleece blanket I wrapped one around me in bed as I wear nothing as it twists around me so useless but with a fleece I got for nothing as a freebie I was a toastie. Then you go into your sleeping bag. But I did find  using it as a duvet type by opening it up was a lot warmer and not so confining. So I was wrapped like a bundle with the fleece and finished off with the duvet s.bag

Keep an eye on Millets - their Eurohike Adventurer 300's (3 season) and  400's (4 season) bags are excellent in spec and warmth. They have some of the largest comfort ranges out there and they often do them on a 2 for 1 deal, which makes the 300 about £25 each. Just checked - They are currently on sale for £29.99 and on a buy 1 get 2nd half price, making them even cheaper if you get 2. If you don't need 2, sell the second "new" on eBay. If you buy in store you can choose to have either a right hand or left hand zipped version. If you get one of each - they can be zipped together.

The 300 is warmer than our old Vango Wilderness 350s.

Why don't you make your own and save loads of money. I'm doing this using a double down duvet and cover which were mothballed when we bought a bigger bed.  I am fed up with sleeping bags, after buying three and not getting on with any of them - too cold, too restrictive, too rustley - all of which have ended up on ebay! They are such a personal thing, I hate anything synthetic, some people love them, same with mummy styles.  My DIY bag is going to cost me £2.75 in velcro - and will be custom made to suit my needs - watch this space!
