We have a Thetford toilet in the caravan and have always used Thetford Blue in the bottom and Thetford Pink in the flush tank.
I see there are numerous alternatives on the market and I vaguely remember reading a discussion on here about which ones were any good and which to avoid but can I find the discussion ??
So sorry to repeat it - but can you please tell me what fluids are good and any cheap sources too please?

I've just bought some Elsan Blue Bags.  Not opened the sealed container yet, but the look a bit like tea bags on the picture.  You pop them in the bottom tank and they desolve in the 'priming' water.  See here.  Don't know what they are like, but I'll be letting folk know after the hols.  Just make sure you don't put them on the same cupboard as the PG tips - you'll either get blue coloured tea or......!!!

Since reading about it on here(..and on other forums),we've been using supermarket own brand Bio Washing fluid(..the stuff for clothes). We find that they smell far nicer and at about a quid a litre they are a lot cheaper..

We have also found that we don't need to use any extra fluid(quantity wise),in order to make up for the fact that it's not "proper" toilet fluid..

Our MH,like a good many vans nowadays, takes it's flush water from the main tank and therefore doesn't have any "flush fluid"..and even though we're flushing with "plain" water,we haven't had any problems, smell wise..

Oh the Elsan bags are brilliant. I have a little tupperware container that I use to take just enough blue bags depending on how long we are away for. No need to carry the whole container and no chance of liquids spilling.

We used them at Easter when it was really hot and no smell at all. We dont bother with anything in the flush tank either.

And yes I have clearly written on the outside of the tupperware tub - toilet bags!!!

Yup, we're the same. Blue bags in the bottom & plain water in the top.
