Topic: Watching TV on laptop??

Have a new'ish laptop and wondered if we could get a gadget that would allow us to watch live TV on it occasionally??

Dont want to watch it all the time - just that sometimes when we are away the Grand Prix might be on - or if its a wet evening we might relax in front of some no brain tv!

Ive got a small digi box but dont know if that can be used? or if I need some sort of fab gadget?!

Any help will be much appreciated!

You could get an internet dongle (or use sites free wifi if available) and tune in to http://www.tvcatchup.com/ need to register which is free but then get all freeview channels. Otherwise you'd need a usb tv tuner like this or this but obviously these would all depend on the reception wherever you are.

Hi, Thanks for the replies -

having used a vodaphone dongle across the country and not getting much luck with reception, and paying monthly for something that may only be used 5-6 times a year that idea is out, and looking at the first option appears that you need broadband, but the TV Stick looks ideal! I will have to re-read it again but appears that you dont need broadband or wifi which is perfect!

I wonder if anyone has actually used these with success?

RE Cindy007 on the right track there but the ickle aerial will only work in a very very very very strong signal area. Will need a proper aerial to work

yes you need a usb tv free view dongle and a good areial ,to watch free tv ,internet dongle you will have to pay in some way,

or most laptops have built in wifi ,log on to the campsites wifi and use tv catch up ,most charge now though for wifi

bibmel, we have use our usb tv tuner twice now with out a internet dongle and had brill pictures both times and full freeview. I guess we had a good signal at both sites. saying that it does not work at home. We are also looking at a internet dongle ( its just money all the time) plus only some work in different areas.

Just got this one at the weekend, and the aerial on the same page too, which arrived this morning.

The USB stick picked nothing up with the silly aerial it came with, but pretty good on the house aerial, need to try the new aerial out before we go away.

Vince, are you saying that you couldnt get a signal with aerial it came with, but you can with the 'extra aerial' you brought?

Where do you plugin the other aerial?
