Hi everyone,

We have a nice frame tent that we're going to start using so it doesn't have sewn-in groundsheets obviously, other than the bedrooms which we'll use some simple tarps etc under to save the floors.

Since I last went camping with my parents many moons ago, carpets and breathable groundsheets seem to have become the norm but I can't seem to work out if we need a groundsheet, then a soft carpet on top, or if the carpets are sufficiently waterproof on their own (they feel very thin), or a breathable 'woven' groundsheet which feels as if it may let damp in etc. We've got youngish kids and although the bedrooms are fine, it would be good to know that the living area is properly dry.If it can be soft and dry, all the better!

Can anyone give me some guidance as to what I need? I've seen Carpetina online and felt Luxor breathable groundsheet (woven so could let damp in?) and also felt Kampa Easitread (felt very rough to the touch) - I really need some help please?

Is it just a decent PVC groundsheet that I need like we had when we were kids?

Thanks

we just use a simple builders tarp from B&Q, then lay the carpet on top. the breathable groundsheet's will let in damp i would think

if you decide to go for a carpet then you will need to know the size you need. then try and find a carpet that will fit the space

Cheers, that's kind of what I thought. My next problem is that nearly all carpets are designed for specific tents so need to find a similarly-sized one! Anyone know of a 2.75m x 3.8/4m carpet??!!

Excellent, just found one that will fit nicely across the living space and extend some way under the bedrooms too. Thanks for the suggestions!
