Hi there - i recently bought an outwell Vermont L on ebay and am camping soon, but have not checked to make sure the tent is still waterproof. Is this something I should do before I go????
All the other equipment the family sold us is in tip top condition and the tent looks great, practically brand new, with no noticeable damage.
Can any seasoned campers/outwell owners give me some advice??
You should have no problems with the tent as it is. If it's in good condition and not crisp to the touch, then all should be well. just enjoy your camping. Your using a great tent.
------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
Totally agree with raf48 that it shouldnt need waterproofing, as a safeguard you could take a tube of seam sealer with you. Our Vermont is 4 years old now and still going strong. Just remember to keep the air vents open and dont confuse condensation with leaky material
------------- Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
My advice is to check before you go, our 4 year old Vermont L failed on us while we were away last week in Scotland, the tent did not feel crispy & we had seam sealed on day 1 of trip.

It's probably waterproof, but pitching it to make sure (a) you know how to do it and (b) there are no bits broken or missing, would seem to be a good idea.
