I have just purchased a 470 litre roof box and bars from vauxhall garage for £290. I had searched internet and yes could prob get cheaper but problem was the bars as it all depends what roof bar fittings you have on your car. The bars changed in 2007 and these are what my car needy. Yes i may have paid more but at least I knew they would fit correctly
I'd avoid the really cheap brands, why? - because whenever you see them out on the road they've always got ratchet straps and rope holding them together!
we have started to use a ratchet strap, not because our box has ever been a problem, but a friend of ours spent ALOT of money on a roof box (loaded but not over loaded) that popped in France and they had to retrieve their clothes from the highway. so we figured better to be safe than sorry.

Exactly the same reason we use ratchet straps - nothing at all to do with the 'make' of roof box.
