No - but they seem a good idea as the rather garish luminosity of the white LEDs gives the tent a clinical feel and not nice and glowy like it should. Perhaps some nice importer/retailer will take note of your request?

The lantern in the link is using a Cree LED, these are the new generation of super bright LED's that also give of a softer glow than regular LED's.

Probably the best lantern around using Cree LED's is the Outwell 400LX (400 lumens brightness) or it's smaller brother the 300LX.

The Outwell lanterns are available in the UK under varoius other brand names, starting at around £20.

I have an Outwell LX300 and can confirm it gives out a warm light as opposed to the harsh white of most LED's.

             Yep thats the same Lantern, Decathlon also have it branded as Freedo for around £25, I am waiting for the 400 Lumen (4 Cree LED) model to start apearing in other brands, which is sure to cost less than the £50 that GoOutdoors are asking for the Outwell 400LX.

Hi all, it seems not much has happened on this front since this thread was started - what we are looking for is a Warm LED lantern with a rechargeable battery.

There seems to be a vast choice of warm LEDs out there now (http://www.quazzle.com/temp/beamshots-may-2012.jpg) but not many have been put into products for the camping market! Is that so, or are we missing something?

Basically, if this had a rechargeable battery instead of the big D ones, it would be perfect: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ring-Cyba-Lite-Vega-Led-Lantern/dp/B002FW3TF4

I agree with you CampSW, a warm white LED with rechargeable battery would be ideal. I've never seen one yet, though!

This looks identical to the Cyba-Lite and is a bit cheaper. Not sure if it's bright white though, and it's definitely not a rechargeable.

The upside is: they use half as many D batteries as the 400 lumen Outwell.

This is cheaper still. The info states it has Japanese Nichia LED, not sure if it's bright or warm light, though? Does anyone know?

We settled on 2 of these, one is bright enough in main part of our frame tent for reading, warm light: lamp Wouldn't be without them now they are small and efficient battery wise, though I think ours weren't as many as 300 lumens this is the same design. Was worth the wait from HK. The second one we got from alpkit and was identical excrpt for the branding. This years version is pretty funky and 190 lumens. ( no need to wait & great customer service )

hlk01: Is the Ultrafire/Alpkit LED warm? I see the Ultrafire mentions CREE LEDs. If so, I may just order one of those "war industry metal CREE LED" Ultrafires. :)

We have that lamp. Why not do what we do? Use it with rechargeable D cells.

The links states it uses "NICHIA LED’s" the same as the other clones of this light.

I can confirm the maplin version is white light, not warm as I have 3 of them.
