all camping season all our camping gear stays in the trailer and during the winter we just transfer to the shed... we have never had any problems and have been storing this way for about 5 years or so...

(no idea.... first polycotton tent!)
Our tent is polycotton and we had a near catastrophe with a small rodent with big ears and a long tail aka Mickey and his pals! I discovered that they like to eat polycotton! Luckily they only chewed through the bag but it was a near miss. The tent was stored in the under stair cupboard and we had no idea we had visitors! Now it's stored in a vinyl bag which I hope they won't like the taste of so much. So be careful about the shed unless you can rodent proof it.
Previously we've just made doubly sure it was put away dry and left it all on the drive. Now we have a newer one I'm tempted to remove as much as pos, but the only real storage we have is the loft, but it's only part boarded and we don't have a fixed ladder so going up and down is a pain, so we may well just leave it on the drive too. We've always added an extra tarpaulin under the cover, and put in pots to raise the level so any rain runs off and have never had a problem.
After having a polyester tent die after not a lot of use but storage in the garage loft, which gets very hot and cold - and after reading something about temperature conditions affecting a tent we now keep the fabric parts of our tent at the bottom of our bedroom wardrobes in dry, roddent free and stable conditions.
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
